Our Story
Tropical Seas Clothing began its journey in 2017 as a family-owned small business nestled along the shores of the Jersey Shore. Founder Tyler Blendowski at 21-years-old went on a spearfishing expedition in the Point Pleasant NJ Inlet that revealed the devastating effects of ocean pollution. Witnessing the unfathomable pollution firsthand ignited a spark for change, leading to the creation of Tropical Seas Clothing. A few months later, our brand was born to make a difference.
The very first person to grace Tropical Seas Clothing with a purchase was none other than Vincent Patrick Ansetta, a resilient 68-year-old with a heart of gold. Known for his unwavering "my way or the highway" demeanor, Vincent also possessed a profound passion for brightening someone's day, showering affection on every dog he met, and savoring his 99-cent cigars. That initial sale, marked by Vincent's encouraging spirit, ignited a flame of hope within us—a flame that still burns brightly six years later, propelling us forward in our journey.
What makes this tale even more poignant is that Vincent Patrick Ansetta was none other than the beloved grandfather of our founder, Tyler Blendowski. As he peacefully rested in bed, Vincent, our first customer and cherished family member, bid farewell to this world in 2021, succumbing to lung cancer. It is with deep reverence and gratitude that we dedicate both our past achievements and future endeavors to his memory—a beacon of inspiration that continues to guide us each day.
